 Functional substances

P.H.A. (Poly Hydroxyacids)

PHA (gluconolactone and lactobionic acid) represent AHA (alphahydroxyacids) new generation.

Gluconolactone - one of the first PHA to be discovered and used in the cosmetics field. It is a natural component of the skin, favouring its rejuvenation process. It bonds to water, thereby favouring skin hydration, in full respect of even the most sensitive skins.

Lactobionic acid - a more recent discovery in the cosmetics field. Its structure is more complex than that of gluconolactone.
It performs several beauty functions: in fact, it carries out an important anti-oxidant and most hydrating action, it contracts pores and optimizes cell turnover.

five common makeup mistakes:

five common makeup mistakes:

* Using too much foundation or foundation that is the wrong colour.
"Most people think foundation is a mask they can hide behind!"  People who have dark complexions tend to use a pink-based foundation. As a result, their skin looks purple/grey.

* Not using mascara
Most women do elaborate eye makeup and forget to use the one thing that will make a difference: mascara. Women use kajal and eye shadow but no mascara. All makeup is incomplete without mascara. It lifts your eyes and really makes them stand out.

* Using a dark brown lipliner and filling the lips with a lighter shade of lipstick.
Women tend to go for very dark brown or almost black colored lipliner and then fill it with a lighter brown coloured lipstick. This,is a big no-no. Use a lipliner that blends in.

Sticking with matte
Matte lipsticks are out. Lips that are dry, wrinkled looking and filled with dark colours like brown, burgundy or chocolate are out. Gloss them. Make your lips look juicy. Matt/desert dry is out. Brown and burgundy are nice colours but put some gloss on it.

* Imitating actresses or models you see on television
Many women walk up to me and ask to give them the star look or make them look like (model-actress) for eg, Katrina/Kareena/Malaika Arora. Don't try to imitate others. Develop your own personality, self-confidence and attitude. Any kind of makeup will then look good on you.

Finally, get rid of the complex you have about your skin tone. "Mostly think being dark or tanned is bad. That's their biggest complex. Learn to love your skin tone, only then can you highlight it.

Shampooing & Conditioning of Hair

Shampooing & Conditioning of Hair

The main purpose of shampooing is to cleanse the hair of all dirt, oils & cosmetics without harming the hair or the scalp. Thus one should avoid using alkaline shampoos as they tend to make the hair dry & brittle. Hair should be shampooed as often as necessary, depending upon how quickly the scalp & hair get dirty. The accumulation of oil & perspiration along with the dirt offer a breeding place for bacteria & lice etc. So, soft water is best for cleaning the hair. Hard water contains minerals & does not lather properly. It can be softened by a chemical process, boiling or distillation & made suitable for shampooing. Select the shampoo according to the hair condition.
Hair is not considered normal if it has been lightened, toned, tinted, permanently waved or permanent straightening, sun damage, even damaged by improper care or by exposure to the elements.
Brushing the hair is a part of both shampoo & scalp treatments. Brushing stimulates the scalp, helps to remove dust & dirt from the hair & gives it an added sheen. Stimulation of scalp helps to normalize the oil glands. Always brush thoroughly, whether it is dry or oily.
* The water should be as warm as one can stand comfortably.
* Wet hair thoroughly & apply shampoo slowly, little at a time, covering the entire hair.
* Manipulate properly with both hands, using the cushions of your fingers not the tips.
* Allow the head to relax for a short while & resume again until the scalp has been   thoroughly massaged & shampoo spreads through the hair.
* Rinse out thoroughly, 2-3 times, with water.
* Now dry the hair with towel, do not pull them while squeezing out the water.
* Massage the scalp with palms & fingers without applying firm pressure, using a circular motion until the hair is partially dry.
